David was a disciple of solomon b. abraham of montpellier and, together with him and jonah b. abraham gerondi , actively opposed Maimonides' philosophic writings. He is quoted in an anonymous commentary to Bava Meẓia in the responsa of Joseph b. David ibn Leb (3:60) and in those of Joseph di Trani (Mahanit, resp., vol. 2, YD 39). (Joseph Elijah Heller)
